Tendulkar to play 350th ODI

Onkar Singh | October 28, 2005 13:48 IST

Sachin TendulkarWhen Sachin Tendulkar [Images] steps out at Mohali on Friday for India's second ODI against Sri Lanka [Images], it will mark yet another milestone for the master batsman.

Tendulkar will appear for India for the 350th time in ODIs, with only Wasim Akram with 356 games to beat.

"I wish him well for his 350th appearance. I wish he continues to score runs the way he has. He still has a long career ahead of him," India captain Rahul Dravid [Images] said.

The 33-year-old Mumbai made a roaring comeback to international cricket after a six-month injury layoff with a swashbuckling 93 against Sri Lanka at Nagpur. But the number of runs could be a mere drop in the ocean for his 16-year career, in which he has recorded 13735 runs in 349 matches at an average of 44.59.

"Sachin Tendulkar is aware of the landmark and I am sure he would rise to the occasion and score runs that would make his fans in Mohali happy," said an official of the Punjab Cricket Board, which is hosting the match.

If the first game was a sign for things to come, Mohali could yet again be mesmerised by Tendulkar magic on this landmark occasion.
