Amid reports of uncertainty about his participation in the upcoming Challenger Series, India captain Sourav Ganguly [Images] refused to give clear indication about the seriousness of his elbow injury.

Ganguly's participation in the country's premier limited-overs tournament has come under a cloud after he met a leading orthopeadic surgeon in Kolkata on Monday and did an MRI scan on his injured right elbow.

The left-handed batsman, who suffered the injury during a warm-up game on the tour of Zimbabwe, declined to give a reply when asked whether he would take part in the series, to be held in Mohali from October 10 to 13.

"I am not going to say anything on the Challenger now," he told reporters at the Cricket Association of Bengal headquarters, where he had come to attend a condolence meeting for his maternal grandfather.

Board of Control for Cricket in India officials also refused to comment on Ganguly's injury.

Joint secretary Gautam Dasgupta said he hasn't received any information about Ganguly's non-availability for the series, which will serve as a selection trial for the one-day series against Sri Lanka [Images].

Ganguly had on Monday met a city orthopeadic surgeon, Dr. Kalyan Mukherjee, to seek advice on the injured right elbow.

When contacted, Mukherjee refused to divulge any details saying, "Whatever you have to ask, you ask Sourav."

Even Ganguly's family sources were not forthcoming on the subject.

"Only Sourav can tell you whether he is playing or not," his father, Chandi Ganguly, said.
