The ICC [Images] Cricket Committee's recommendations on the one-day game will make the game more interesting, says former India captain and committee chairman Sunil Gavaskar [Images].

Gavaskar, on a brief visit to Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday, also said he expects new coach Greg Chappell [Images] to take 'Team India' to the "number one spot".

"The suggestion on giving blocks of overs to the fielding captains for fielding restrictions will make the game more interesting because there was a feeling that between the 16th to 40th overs the game was a little predictable. So, giving the fielding side the option of having two blocks of five overs each (was suggested)," he told reporters.

"We are hoping it will make the game more interesting."

On the appointment of Chappell as India coach, the batting legend said, "The new coach will take India to the number one spot."

BCCI secretary S K Nair, who was also present, sought to play down a question on why an Indian was not selected as coach.

"The coach was selected by a high power committee of eminent persons like Gavaskar," Nair said.
