South Africa opening bowler Shaun Pollock [Images] has been passed fit to play in the third Test against England [Images] starting on Sunday.

The all rounder was struck on both hands with consecutive deliveries by Simon Jones while batting in the second innings at Durban during the drawn second Test on Thursday.

"He had a fitness assessment today and he will be fit to play on Sunday," South Africa media manager Gerald de Kock said.

"His left index finger is more swollen than his right but he will be fine."

Boeta Dippenaar, who made 110 in the first Test against England at Port Elizabeth, returns to the squad after recovering from the knee injury that forced him to miss the Durban Test.

England lead the five-Test series 1-0.
