Team needs to score more runs, says Chappell

December 06, 2005 19:48 IST

Coach Greg Chappell [Images] declined to read too much into India's performance on the last two days of the rain-marred first cricket Test against Sri Lanka [Images], which ended in a draw on Tuesday.

"I do not want to say anything about the game in the last two days. I do not want to mislead anyone by reading too much into the game here," he said.

Not the easiest pitch to play on: Dravid

Asked whether the Sri Lankans scored a psychological victory, he replied: "I do not know. It was good practice for both the teams. The Sri Lankans bowled well. We had some batting practice in difficult conditions."

Chappell also said he is not too worried about Virender Sehwag's [Images] form.

"He is getting good starts. At some stage he is going to get big scores. It could be in the Delhi match. I am not overly concerned about it.

"It is something that we talked about, but it is not a big issue. And, he was the top scorer from the Indian side."

He conceded that the team needs to score more runs in the matches to come.

"Obviously, we need to make more runs. I expect the batting conditions will be different in Delhi. We also need to take more wickets as well."
