Akram rejects Hindi film offer

May 07, 2004 22:08 IST

An effort to have Pakistan bowling great Wasim Akram sing and dance in a Bollywood film has  fallen through after he declined to take up an offer from top director Mahesh Bhatt.

Akram told local TV channel Geo in Lahore on Friday that he has decided not to accept the offer to act in films as he was wary about it and preferred devoting his time to his job as commentator for ESPN-Star Sports.

Wife of the former Pakistan captain Huma Akram later said that Akram was taking his job as commentator very seriously and he had taken a strong liking to it.

"The offer to act in movies has been there for some time. Right now he was too much involved with his role as commentator," she said.
