England called up fast bowlers Steve Harmison and Darren Gough for the seven-match one-day series against the West Indies on Tuesday.

Chairman of selectors David Graveney said: "Stephen was a member of our World Cup squad last winter and is an important part of our plans for the future in both forms of the game.

"He has performed superbly against the West Indies in the Test series and we hope that he can carry this rich vein of form into the one-day arena.

Harmison has been England's major success on tour, winning the man-of-the-match awards in the first two Tests. England lead the four-match series 2-0.

However, he has yet to make his mark in one-dayers, taking five wickets in six matches at an average of 49.2.

Gough, 33, has played in 121 one-dayers but has been out of the England frame since July 2003 following a string of knee problems.

"Darren has proved his fitness to our medical team and his inclusion will give us valuable experience and know-how within our bowling attack," Graveney added.

"He is a proven international performer and I'm sure that he will be relishing the prospect of his first England tour of the Caribbean."

The first one-dayer will be in Georgetown, Guyana on April 18.
