Kumble fit for selection

March 21, 2004 22:00 IST

Leg-spinner Anil Kumble has been declared fit to play in the upcoming Test series in Pakistan, a top official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India said on Sunday.

"Kumble was certified fit by Dr. Anant Joshi and his fitness certificate was received today," BCCI secretary S K Nair told PTI over phone.

The Test team for Pakistan will be selected in Delhi on Monday.

Kumble suffered a shoulder strain during the triangular one-day series in Australia and missed the second final in February.

Ajit Agarkar, who also did not play the final Down Under due to injury, had already submitted his fitness certificate, Nair said.

He said the selectors will discuss with captain Sourav Ganguly and coach John Wright in Pakistan over phone before finalising the squad.
