The Indian cricket team will assemble in Kolkata for a three-day conditioning camp starting tomorrow to give finishing touches to their preparations for the eagerly awaited tour of Pakistan.

The 15 member team for five Limited Overs Internationals, led by skipper Sourav Ganguly, will gather in the morning at the Eden Gardens and practise under the watchful eyes of coach John Wright, physical trainer Gregory Allen King, and physiotherapist Andrew Leipus.

The first session will start at 1300 IST, a Cricket Association of Bengal source said.

Whether the camp would be held in the lead-up to India's first tour of Pakistan in nearly 15 years had been the subject of intense speculation for nearly a month. Finally, the working commmittee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India ended the debate last week by deciding to go ahead with the camp.

"It will enable the entire team to spend three days together before the tour," the CAB source said. "Most of the leading players have been enjoying a break since their return from Australia. So the hard grind of the conditioning camp will be beneficial for them."

The Kolkata police have taken stringent security measures for the camp. High-ranking police officers will be posted inside and near the stadium and sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squad personnel pressed into service even before the camp begins.

Security has also been heightened at the hotel where the players will be put up.
