Foster all set to take over as bowling coach

June 10, 2004 16:47 IST

Australian bowling coach Daryl Foster, who has been hired by Pakistan Cricket Board to train its fast bowlers, would arrive in Lahore on June 24.

Batting coaches Greg Chappell and Barry Richards would also arrive by the end of this month to have a look at the Pakistan team before it sets off to take part in the Asia Cup to be held in Sri Lanka next month.

Foster is not new to the job as he had held the post of bowling coach for Pakistan cricket team during the last World Cup. He also played a key role in legitimising the bowling action of paceman Shoaib Akhtar.

Foster, who would be in Lahore for two weeks, would impart training to the Graduation Class at the National Cricket Academy, starting on June 28.

The Aussie is likely to coach national bowlers if a training camp is on during his visit.

The national camp was slated from June 20 to prepare the team for the Asia Cup but the date has been cancelled because the probables could not be picked as captain Inzamam-ul Haq was out of the country.
