"Weather has affected just about every game but we've managed to get them all played," Snedden told reporters. "The problem has been that people have been put off buying tickets before the game because they have been unsure just how much play they'll see."

The fourth one-day international against South Africa in Dunedin was delayed by 24 hours because of rain. When the game finally took place on Wednesday, the players had to contend with single-figure temperatures.

The fifth game is due to be held in Auckland on Saturday but a tropical cyclone is forecast. New Zealand lead the six-match series 3-1.

Snedden said that while NZC profits were a concern, he believed the problem needed to be put into perspective.

"Gate takings have taken a hammering but I have been watching the news every night and seen the devastation of the floods in the southern parts of the North Island," he said.

"What we are going through is nothing compared to what so many people are going through and we've got to realise that life goes on outside the cricket arena."
