Dravid named for Test Player of the Year award

V V S Laxman received the maximum nominations in the individual category after he was nominated for the One-Day International player, Test player and Player of the Year awards by the ICC Cricket Awards selection panel on Tuesday.

Vice-captain Rahul Dravid and India's first Test triple centurion Virender Sehwag were nominated for the Test Player of the Year as well as the Player of the Year awards.

Sachin Tendulkar is in line for the ODI Player of the Year while pace sensation Irfan Pathan got himself picked for the Emerging Player of the Year award, a statement from the ICC said.

The Umpire of the Year, Test Team, ODI Team and Spirit of Cricket are the other four categories in which awards will be presented.

The voting period is from August 1 to 31 during when each of the ICC Awards voting academy, including 50 highly respected cricketers, will cast a 3-2-1 vote in each category.

The player or the team with highest number of votes will be the winner, to be announced on September 7 in London.
