Rao, Ojha to replace Gavaskar, Karthik

The senior selection committee named Andhra all-rounder Venugopal Rao and wicketkeeper-batsman Naman Vinay Kumar Ojha of Madhya Pradesh as replacements for India 'A' cricketers Rohan Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik who have been picked for the senior India team.

The two replacements will join the India 'A' team, which will play a triangular one-day series in Kenya from August 11 to 21 and last two four-day matches against hosts Kenya from August 26 to September four, Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary S K Nair said from Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

The 'A' teams of India and Pakistan and the Kenyan national team are in the fray in the tri-series.

Gavaskar, who is in the 15-member squad for Videocon Cup in Holland and NatWest Challenge in England, and Karthik, who will also be part of the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy as well as the two tournaments, will join the Indian team on August 9, Nair added.

The Indian team is scheduled to leave for Holland on August 17.
