Chance for India to move up ODI ratings

October 30, 2003 20:10 IST

If India beats Australia in the TVS Cup tri-series match in Mumbai on Saturday it will climb to third place in the official International Cricket Council One-Day International ratings.

Victory over the ICC ODI table leaders will boost India's rating from 107 to 109, enough to put it clear in third place behind Australia and South Africa.

However, with the middle six teams in the ratings so tightly grouped, losing to Australia would see India fall behind England, Pakistan and West Indies to the sixth place in the official standings, with a rating of 106.
