DID YOU KNOW?

New Zealand opener Lou Vincent is one of cricket's freakiest characters. He once had heart surgery five days before a Test match against England; was disciplined by his Board for talking to a journalist; punctured an airway in his lungs after an Andrew Caddick delivery hit him on the chest and almost missed a Test after a fan tackled him during a friendly game on the sands of Barbados and injured him.

BACKTRACK...

Australian medium pacer Andy Bichel has one of the most difficult jobs in international cricket - breaking into the Australian team. Glenn McGrath, Jason Gillespie and Brett Lee have more than settled the argument as far as earning a place in the squad is concerned. The first reserve for them is Bichel and one cannot doubt his attitude. A late arrival to the game, his consistency in line and length is splendid. He virtually never lets the team down and in the absence of the pace trio, a lot will hinge on him. Allied to his bowling, he is more than capable with the bat as many teams discovered during the 2003 World Cup and can prove the difference in the batsmen friendly conditions prevalent in the sub-continent.
