Kartik, Balaji in India 'A' team

Former Indian Test opener Shiv Sunder Das has been named captain of the India 'A' team that will participate in a triangular series in Kolkata next month.

Murali KartikPakistan and Sri Lanka are the other teams that will take part in the tournament from December 14 to 21.

Left-arm spinner Murali Kartik, medium-pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji, and middle-order batsman Hemang Badani, who missed out on selection for India's tour to Australia, also find places in this team.

Rookie fast bowler Munaf Patel, who made his first Ranji Trophy debut on Saturday, has also been chosen with Mumbai teammate Romesh Powar.

Ambati Rayudu, captain of the successful under-19 team which won the Asian four-nation cricket tournament in Pakistan earlier this month, was also selected.
