Question: Is A T Rayudu's 170-odd runs (I don't remember the score) last year in England the highest score made by a junior cricketer in one-day games.

Answer 2: Aambati Rayudu made 177 not out (in 137 balls) against England under-19 at Taunton on 30-8-2002.

It was then the highest individual score made by a batsman playing an under-19 game at the international level.

However, earlier this year (on 11-2-2003), an Australian under-19 batsman, Theo Doropoulos, made an unbeaten 179 not out (in 155 balls) also against the England Under-19 at Sydney.

Name: Ch V Kalyan
Question: What is the maximum number of centuries made (both innings combined) in a losing cause for a Test match?

Answer 3: India's Sachin Tendulkar and West Indian Brian Lara have the most Test hundreds - eight - for a losing cause.

Name: Ronny
Question: What is the maximum difference between the individual scores of the opening batsmen (in ODI) when the first wicket fell? Is the one between Trescothick (86) and Solanki (8*) a record for it? Trscothick got out when score read 108.

Answer 4: This one seems to be a record. I can also recall another instance when Sri Lankans Sanath Jayasuriya and Romesh Kaluwitharana added 70 runs for the first wicket against Pakistan at Singapore on 7-4-1996, with Kalu being dismissed on zero (in 11 balls). Jayasuriya went on to make 76 in just 28 balls!

Name: Sujoy Dasgupta
Question: Does Saurav Ganguly hold any world record/s (both Test and ODI)? If so, can you please give details?

Answer 5: Ganguly does not hold any world records in Test matches. However, in ODIs, he is the quickest to reach the milestones of 6000 runs in terms of least matches (152), 7000 runs in terms of least matches (180) and innings (174) and 8000 runs in terms of least matches (208) and innings (200) than any other batsmen.

Question: Hi, I would like to know who has taken the maximum number of ODI, Test and ODI+Test catches in total in the history of the game, and was not the wicket-keeper... if you could also tell how many he took for Test and ODI respectively.

Answer 7: Australian Mark Waugh has a combined aggregate of 289 catches in Tests (181) and ODIs (108).

Name: Sachin
Question: Can u please tell me the first Indian to play county cricket?

Answer 8: The first Indian to appear in a county championship match was K S Ranjitsinhji - for Sussex (against Nottinghamshire at Nottingham, 16-18 May 1895.) Incidentally, a month later Dr M E Pavri, a Parsi cricketer, appeared for Middlesex (against Sussex at Hove, 13-15 June 1895). Ranjitsinhji was in fact appearing for the Cambridge University in first-class matches since 1893.

Name: P.Dilip
Question: Is there any instance of any batsman/bowler doing an ambidextrous performance either in First class or Test cricket.

Answer 9: There have been some stray cases in first-class cricket history, but no player has done so, on a regular basis.

Sunil Gavaskar once batted over an hour left-handed against Karnataka's left-arm spinner Raghuram Bhat in a Ranji Trophy match (semi-final) at Bangalore on the last day (14-3-1982).

Gavaskar came in at number seven and remained unbeaten on 18 at close. Gavaskar later explained that this was a strategy to ensure that Bhat would not be allowed to pitch the ball on the rough just outside the leg-stump.

There was this junior cricketer from Pakistan, whose name I don't remember now, used to bowl regularly right arm off-breaks and left-arm slow.

Name: Abhay
Question: Hi there, In the year 1987, Sachin Tendulkar did not bag the best junior cricketer of the year award from Mumbai (then Bombay) Cricket Association. Who won the award (My guess is Vinod Kambli, but I am not sure?)

Answer 10: The award for the best Bombay junior cricketer for 1986-87 went to Jatin Paranjpe. However, in 1987-88, Sachin Tendulkar shared this award with Abhijit Kale (who now plays for Maharashtra).
