Sehwag shines

July 03, 2003 19:14 IST

Dashing Indian opener Virender Sehwag played a cameo knock of 30 from 21 balls to enable Leicestershire score 72 for one in reply to Warwickshire's first innings score of 253 at close on the opening day of their four-day Frizzell County Championship tie at Grace Road on Wednesday.

Sehwag played some cracking shots, hitting six boundaries but it was beaten by a quick delivery from Betts which skidded through to shatter his stumps.

In another match, Yuvraj Singh continued with his lean patch, scoring only six runs for Yorkshire, who made 314 for seven against Derbyshire on the opening day of their Division II tie.
