Hosts Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan by an innings and nine runs to garner five points in the last league encounter of the Elite 'B' Ranji Trophy cricket match at the Gymkhana grounds at Hyderabad on Saturday.

Speedster N P Singh's excellent figures of 6-70 and Vishnuvardhan who claimed 4-51 wrecked the Rajasthan innings to bundle them out for 235 and 145 in reply to the hosts first innings total of 389 and brightened the hosts' chances for a berth in knock-out phase.

Cold wave conditions helped the bowlers to dominate the proceedings as the visitors, resuming at 122 for 2, could not tackle N P Singh, who swung the ball well, claiming six scalps to reduce Rajasthan for 235.

Opener Vineet Saxena (62) and D Krishna Kumar (42) were the only batsmen to show some resistance.

In the course of follow-on, Rajasthan fumbled at every crucial juncture with only star batsman Gagan Khoda picking up 45 runs as medium pacer Vishnuvardhan ripped through the batting cream accounting for four crucial wickets for 51 runs.

Daniel Manohar provided icing over the cake by claiming  three wickets, two of them in quick succession to dismiss the visitors for 145 to give Hyderabad a resounding win by an innings and nine runs.

Hyderabad, which has ten points to its credit has moved up to 15 points in Elite 'B' class and depending on the other matches its position for a berth in knock-out phase would be decided.
