Zaheer joins select band

Rajneesh Gupta | December 05, 2003 22:03 IST

In the ongoing first Test against Australia at Brisbane,  Zaheer Khan was responsible for the rather elusive occurrence of an Indian fast bowler claiming five wicket in an innings.

It was the 11th such instance for India against Australia in Australia.

The last time an Indian fast bowler captured five wickets in an innings against Australia in Australia was during the 1991-92 tour. Kapil Dev, in second and fourth Test, and Manoj Prabhakar, in fifth Test, were the bowlers to achieve the feat.

Zaheer can now achieve the third best figures by an Indian paceman on Australian soil if he picks the last wicket in Australia's first innings on Saturday.
