Injury scare for Sehwag

Indian batsman Virender Sehwag has been given the all-clear after being struck on the head during a nets session at Lord's.

Coach John Wright said Sehwag was helping out as an extra bowler when he was hit on the forehead by a shot from Zaheer Kahn.

"He had a scan last night, he's a bit sluggish today but it's not a problem," said Wright.

Sehwag was hit on the forehead by a Zaheer Khan shot while fielding at the Lord's cricket ground during the team's first net practice session on their gruelling 83-day tour of England featuring a triangular one-day series, also involving Sri Lanka, and four Test matches.

Sehwag left the ground with a bleeding forehead and was said to be feeling slightly uneasy. The Indian camp, however, insisted that there was no serious damage.

Dr Shishir Ray, medical adviser at the Indian high commission in London, who examined him, said the injury was not very serious, but asked the batsman to have a scan done as a precautionary measure.

The dashing middle-order batsman had just recovered from a shoulder injury that he sustained during the home series against Zimbabwe and had to miss action for more than a month before joining the team for the one-dayers against West Indies last month.
