Indian media members
heckled at Lord's

Lord's cricket ground officials are investigating a complaint that four members of the Indian media were verbally abused and one physically assaulted by a steward as they left the ground after the third day of the first Test between England and India on Saturday.

A statement from the quartet, released on Sunday, said a steward had abused them as they left for the evening and pushed one of them to the ground.

"The police were not involved in the incident," the statement said. "Instead the four media men went across to the Grace Gates and informed security supervisors of the incident."

An official from the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the custodians of Lord's, said a complaint had been received and the incident is being investigated.

"All those involved have been asked, or are being asked, to make statements so the investigation can be as thorough as possible," said MCC head of communications Ian Wilton.

Wilton added that officials are examining television evidence to see whether the alleged events had been recorded.

"The footage should help to clarify a couple of issues which are currently the subject of some confusion," he said.
