India vs England - 4th ODI at Kanpur

** Mohammad Kaif, became the 142nd player to represent India in LOIs.

** Marcus Trescothick, who became the 18th English player to keep wickets, provided the only fourth occasion for England when a non-specialist keeper did duties behind the wickets.

In 340 matches played by England to date, Graeme Fowler (v Pakistan at Lahore and Karachi on 9-3-1984 and 26-3-1984 respectively) and John Crawley (v Sri Lanka at Sydney on 3-2-1999) were the only non-regular keepers to do so.

** Nick Knight during his innings of 74, when on 30, became the only sixth Englishman to reach the milestone of 2500 runs.

By doing so in his 69th match and innings he became the second quickest for England after Graham Gooch, who needed just 63 matches and 62 matches to reach this landmark in 1987-88.

** The 45 run partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly equals the best for the second wicket at this venue. Fellow Indians Manoj Prabhakar and Vinod Kambli had also put on 45 runs against Sri Lanka on 7-11-1993.

** Tendulkar (87 not out), when on 48, added one more record to his name when he became the first batsman in LOI history to reach the milestone of 11,000 runs.

He was playing in his 284th match and 276th innings of his career. Last year he had become the first to reach the summit of 10,000 runs in LOIs.

** India (219-2 in 29.4 overs) achieved the sixth fastest strike-rate of 7.28 runs per over (r/o) by a team scoring over 200 runs in LOI history. It was India’s second fastest strike-rate after the 8.16 r/o achieved by it against Zimbabwe at Kallang, Singapore on 4-9-1999 during their innings of 245-6 in 30 overs.

** However, it was by far the fastest strike-rate achieved by any team against England obliterating the previous best of 6.97 r/o by the West Indies (223-9 in 32 overs) at Birmingham on 31-8-1976.
