Letter of the Day

October 6, 2001
Get rid of Srinath and Kumble

The only way for the Indian cricket team to get closer to performing consistently (not necessarily become world beaters) is to GET RID of Srinath and Kumble with immediate effect.

Srinath is the dumbest player going round and his poor workethic negates whatever talent he might have had. Bringing Srinath to the team spreads the contagious disease further and sooner the Indian team gets rid of Srinath the better.

Kumble is a known commodity in International cricket and he should only be played when the wickets are of dubious quality.

To make matters worse both these gentlemen are poor fielders and rabbit with the bats.

I hope somebody has enough clarity of vision to realise that getting rid of these two will in itself make this team pretty good.

Ganguly , Harbhajan, Yuvraj , Nehra, Dravid and Zaheer bring that dash of enthusiasm which makes them approach each game with a zeal which is distinctly lacking with the mentioned two around.

Please note: I consider persisting with Prasad a good idea because he with his both sides movement will always be useful as a backup stock bowler.

Signed
Hemant Jaswal
