Letter of the Day

September 25, 2001
Return of the BCCI Taliban

It is with some foreboding that I logged on to Rediff today and my worst fears came true. Mr Muthiah, had in his two year tenure done some good for the cricketers; inspite of having clowns like Mr Lele and geriatric romantics like Mr Dungarpur around.

Mr Dalmiya's return to the reins along with people like Mr Pawar, Mr Yadav, Mr. Power Hungry Politician of some hue etc. getting affiliated with the crickt borad in one way or another gives me a feeling of deja vu.

I think we can look forward to the following now:

1. Sacking of Mr. John Wright

2. Resuming of cricket(??) matches in Sharjah/Toronto/Singapore....

3. India-Bangladesh playing a test series every year(maybe 6 one day matches instead as we have the "Test World Championship!! "

4. Reduction in the cricketing years of Mr. Tendulkar/ Mr. Dravid et al at least by a couple of years due to "over cricket"

5.Cricket matches with Pakistan for raising funds for the victims of " __________ "disaster so that it becomes difficult for the government to refuse permission.

My condolences are with Indian cricket and all it's followers.

Signed
Manoj Bapat
