Vision Statement for Indian Cricket

Infrastructure

The board recognises that there can be no development without basic infrastructure. In order to upgrade infrastructural facilities in the country, the board plans the following steps:

a) From its corpus of funds, now residing idly in various bank accounts, the board will allocate a sum of Rs 100 crore to be shared equally between all the member associations.

b) The board further pledges that each year, 30 per cent of all earnings will be shared equally between the member associations, towards the same purpose.

c) In return, each member association will maintain, in peak condition, a minimum of one flagship cricket stadium in its bailiwick. The stadium will have adequate practice and playing facilities, well-equipped dressing rooms and media centers and proper conditions for the spectators. This last will include adequate shelter - any association that fails to provide shelter from the elements, for the paying public, will be deprived of its right to hold international fixtures until the condition is rectified. Further, there will be adequate provision of drinking water, toilets, and other essential amenities. A committee comprising former cricketers will be set up to regularly visit the various stadia and report on the conditions - adverse reports will entail immediate suspension from the cricket calendar.

d) Further, it will be the responsibility of the member associations to maintain a specified number of subsidiary stadia, in order to facilitate cricket at the school, collegiate, and league levels. The member associations will ensure that pitches, playing and practice conditions, and basic coaching and fitness equipment, are made available at each of these subsidiary stadiums.

Coaching is an integral part of infrastructural development, yet it is, in itself, a key element in our planning. Therefore, we propose to devote an entire section to the subject of coaching infrastructure.
