Talent shortage: India ranks 3rd in the world

Employers in India report the third highest talent shortage globally, with as many as 64 per cent of employers facing difficulty finding candidates with the right skills to fill open positions, a ManpowerGroup survey said.

According to ManpowerGroup's survey of more than 37,000 employers in 42 countries and territories, employers in Japan report the greatest talent shortages globally (81 per cent), followed by Peru (67 per cent) and India (64 per cent).

Employers across the world continue to be plagued by talent shortages, as 36 per cent of global employers are facing difficulty in finding candidates with the right skills to fill open positions, the survey said.

The survey noted that more than 50 per cent of global employers reporting talent shortages say the shortages significantly impact their ability to meet client needs.

Moreover, 40 per cent of employers say shortages reduce their competitiveness/productivity and one in every four employers surveryed is exploring new talent sources.

The top 10 jobs for which it is most difficult to get candidates in the Asia Pacific region include, engineers, sales representatives, skilled trades, accounting and finance staff, sales managers, technicians, IT staff, management executive, researchers and production operators/machine operators, as per the survey.
