Premji 'cautiously optimistic'

April 18, 2008 15:30 IST

Chairman of Wipro Ltd, Azim Premji, said on Friday that the company is looking at fiscal 2009 with cautious optimism, given the rapidly changing market situation which has a bearing on its immediate business dynamics.

"However, we remain resilient and confident of our prospects", he told a news conference.

"Considering this, we have drawn up an aggressive plan to capitalise on the likely back ended positive momentum for a profitable volume growth," he added.

Premji said "We are bullish on our India and Middle East geographies to deliver turbocharged growth riding on the investments in these markets".

Girish Paranjpe, the newly appointed joint CEO of Wipro's IT business, said most of its clients are expected to spend more on IT in the second half of the current calendar year compared to the first one.
