TV prices may go up by 8-12%

Consumer Electronics and TV Manufacturers Association on Thursday said higher cost of inputs like plastic and steel would lead to an 8-12 per cent increase in product prices in the segment.

"Raw materials such as plastics, steel are the basic inputs for the consumer durables industry. The prices of these raw materials have gone up considerably in the last one year," Cetma said.

It said in some cases, the increase was as high as 75-100 per cent.

"This has left no option with the industry but to increase the prices of products by 8-12 per cent to offset part of increased costs," Cetma said.
