More foreign tourists visit India

Foreign tourist arrivals in the country registered a 14.4 per cent increase in the first four months this year as compared to the same period last year.

The total arrivals by April this year was 16,05,773 against the 14,03,234 last year, an official release said on Friday.

It said foreign exchange earnings, in rupee terms, also recorded a growth of 16.3 per cent during the month at Rs 9919.81 crore (Rs 99.19 billion) as compared to Rs 8529.96 crore (Rs 85.29 billion) last year.
