Sensex soars 85 points at close

The Sensex closed 85 points higher at 5,124. The Nifty finished at 1,609 - up 27 points.

Infosys was up 3.3% (Rs 50) at Rs 1,537. Wipro and Satyam also posted smart gains at Rs 561 and Rs 339, respectively.

ITC gained nearly 3% (Rs 28) to close at Rs 1,034. HLL was up over a per cent at Rs 108, and Reliance ended a per cent higher at Rs 475.

Zee and Gujarat Ambuja gained around 4% each at Rs 146 and Rs 317,

respectively.

Ranbaxy, Grasim and HPCL were up 3% each at Rs 936, Rs 1,071 and Rs 316, respectively.

Cipla and Dr.Reddy's were the only significant losers among the Sensex stocks, and closed at Rs 233 and Rs 701, respectively.
