Inflation falls to 5.6%

January 20, 2005 17:54 IST
Inflation fell to a 31-week low of 5.6 per cent for the week ended January 8 despite a hike in prices of fuel, vegetables, non-food and manufactured products.

The Wholesale Price Index based inflation came down marginally by 0.18 per cent during the week from 5.78 per cent in the previous week, mainly due to a fall in prices of some food articles.

Inflation was higher at 6.63 per cent a year ago.
