PC sales cross 9.55 lakh mark

Spurred by the increasing demand from telecom banking and financial services and manufacturing sector, personal computer sales during the first half of 2002-03 fiscal crossed 955,000 units.

According to Manufacturers' Association of Information Technology, desktop PC market grossed 950,000 units registering a growth of 18 per cent in the first half of 02-03 as compared to the same period last year.

MAIT has revised its PC sales projection for the year 2002-03 to 20 per cent from the earlier 15 per cent under which, in unit terms, the PC sales are expected to cross two million (20 lakh) units.
