Seeking greater participation from overseas Indians in the development of Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday that the state was aggressively going ahead with several projects for creating world-class infrastructure, including a Rs 1700 crore (Rs 17 billion) project to give a facelift to urban infrastructure in six major cities.
Speaking at the Bhartiya Pravasi Divas in New Delhi, Gehlot said, "Despite all odds, the state has made a remarkable progress in every field. Work is underway on the Rs 1700 crore project funded by the Asian Development Bank to facelift urban infrastructure in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Udaipur and Kota."
He said over Rs 6 billion (Rs 600 crore) were being spent on upgradation and modernisation of the road network in the state despite financial crunch.
Seeking support from the Indians living abroad, he said, "We require your experience more than your money."
