Narayan appointed secretary in PMO

Finance Secretary S Narayan has been appointed as secretary in the Prime Minister's Office, official sources said in New Delhi on Wednesday.

An order to this effect was issued last night by the PMO, they said.

Narayan would retire on June 30 and is expected to take up the new assignment after that, the sources said.

An IAS officer of 1965 batch from Tamil Nadu cadre, Narayan, is an economist with an M Phil from the Cambridge University.

Expenditure secretary D C Gupta is tipped to succeed Narayan in the finance ministry, the sources added.
