Taking stress out of Bangalore...

September 26, 2005 19:39 IST
With India's IT hotspot Bangalore being weighed down by infrastructure constraints, the government is taking steps to promote other cities like Hubli and Mysore as IT investment destinations, Union Communication and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran said on Monday.

"We are trying to take the stress out of cities like Bangalore," Maran said.  He said West Bengal and cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune were also now emerging as attractive investment destination for the IT companies.

Currently, Chennai stands fourth in terms of software exports, after Bangalore, Noida and Pune, he said.

To attract companies, India's potential and advantages would be showcased in the forthcoming IT events IT.in at Bangalore and Gitex in Hyderabad, Maran said.
