Hindustan Motors, owned by C K Birla group, has concluded an arrangement to supply engine and gearbox to General Motors' sports utility vehicles, which are yet to hit the Indian roads.
Sources in HM told PTI that supplies to GM will start from January, involving a gross billing of around Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion) in a single financial year for the company.
Meanwhile, the company board would meet in Delhi on Tuesday to finalise the second quarter financial results.
Sources said that sales in the first half of the current financial year suffered a setback as supply of engine components for its Ambassador car stopped for about two months as the DCM Foundry went on strike.
The company was now selling around 1500 Ambassadors per month, which was expected to pick up in the second half with the resumption of engine supplies.
The sources said that Lancer sales had also been hovering around 500 per month, which was more or less in line with the company's target for the current financial year.
