Gold prices tumbled by Rs 100 per ten grams to close at Rs 6,395 at the bulllion market on Thursday, pulled down by persistent heavy stockists' offerings following a steep fall in New York after the US Dollar's sharp recovery against major global rivals.
Silver also plunged on lack of industrial enquiries. Standard gold (99.5 purity) dropped by Rs 100 per 10 grams to Rs 6,395 from the overnight closing levels of Rs 6,495.
Pure gold (99.9 purity) also fell by Rs 105 per 10 grams to Rs 6,430 from Rs 6,535 previously. Silver ready (.999 fineness) also fell to Rs 11,095 from Rs 11,885.
