Govt nods 25 FDIs worth Rs 202 cr

The Union government on Friday cleared 25 foreign direct investment proposals worth Rs 201.58 crore (Rs 2.02 billion), including one for the development of integrated township in Bangalore.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram cleared the proposals after they were approved by Foreign Investment Promotion Board on August 27.

The integrated township will be developed by the Bangalore-based Royal Garden City with an investment of Rs 178.90 crore (Rs 1.79 billion) by Canadian Royal Indian Raj International Corporation.

The township project would include 35,000 residential units, entertainment centres, parks, restaurants, shopping, educational facilities and civic amenities, a central business district and industrial units.

The other proposals are for investment in sectors like manufacturing and export carrier assemblies, textiles, tourism, software and IT enabled services.
