Bisleri's Delhi plant shut since Monday

Work at Bisleri's drinking water bottling plant at Shivaji Road, Delhi, has come to a halt since Monday. 
 
While employees said the plant had been shut because of maintenance and "cleaning up" work, government sources said the plant stopped production after a sudden inspection by the Bureau of Indian Standards , which was acting on a consumer complaint filed on June 24. 
 
Bisleri chairman Ramesh Chauhan denied that BIS had issued any such order. The BIS spokesperson declined to comment and said it received several quality-related complaints every day and action was taken on them. 
 
"These are routine and internal matters and we wouldn't want to talk about any particular company," he

said. 
 
Some Bisleri workers at the plant said there was a sudden inspection on June 25 by government officials and the plant had been shut since then. 
 
The plant employs nearly 300 people. 
 
According to sources, Bisleri is trying to meet the peak summer demand in the capital by drawing supplies from its plant in Noida. 
 
Bisleri continues to lead in the Rs 700-1,000 crore (Rs 7-10 billion) organised, packaged water market with an estimated 40 per cent market share, followed by Kinley at 28 per cent and Aquafina with an 11 per cent share. 
 
In terms of volumes, the North and West remain Bisleri's biggest performing markets, despite the brand's sustained national-level presence.
