UK-based Aircom International Ltd announced on Thursday its plans to set up new software development, testing and technical support centres in India, entailing an initial investment of over five million euros (about Rs 28.5 crore).
Aircom International, which operates in India through its wholly-owned subsidiary Aircom International (India), is also planning to embark on a major recruitment drive, as part of which it would increase its headcount by 300 professionals by the middle of this year.
Aircom India is a wireless solutions company and currently has 60 professionals at its office in Noida.
"The Indian telecom market has come of age and the recent statistics are only a glimpse of what the future holds for the country in terms of growth. The immense talent pool and growth opportunities have been the logical reasons for us to move our critical operations to India," Dr Stephen Mockford, group chairman and managing director of Aircom International Ltd told a news conference in New Delhi.
The new centres will offer consultancy and support services to South Asian countries including India and will also support specific global operations. They would be located around Delhi.
With the establishment of dedicated support centre, Aircom India would have a new division in the software development group called support group, which would cater to software queries of clients and also provide consultancy support, the company said.
