Upcoming auto units expected to change the face of industrial UP

Uttar Pradesh has attracted Rs 68.79 billion in the automobile sector, generating about 42,000 jobs in recent times, a senior state official said in Lucknow.

Industrial Development Commissioner Ajai Prakash Verma said that about one-third of 75 automobile units have already set up plants involving a capital investment of Rs 47.93 billion. They offered employment to about 15,000 persons.

He said that 47 automobiles units with Rs 20.96 billion capital investments are coming up. On their completion, about 26,000 jobs would be created, he added.

The IDC said that 12 more proposals of leading industrial units involving a capital investment of Rs 453.1 million, have been received during the 18 months' tenure of the present government.

These industrial units would be set up in Agra, Moradabad, Gautambuddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hardwar and Kanpur.
