Forbes names Wipro's Premji as richest Indian

Seven Indians figure among the 465 richest 'working people' on earth, the Forbes magazine says in its latest ranking of the world's billionaires.

The July 5 issue of the magazine says the total wealth of the top 200 ''world's working rich'' surpassed $ 1 trillion this year and their collective net worth is more than double the $ 463 billion the top 200 billionaires had ten years ago.

Premji is placed 177 on the 13th annual list of Forbes, which begins with US software magnate Bill Gates's name ($ 90 billion).

Premji has surpassed the wealth of N Lakshmi Mittal who commands $ 1.9 billion, industrialist Dhirubai Ambani and software developer Shiv Nadar (both $ 1.2 billion), Kumar Mangalam Birla ($ 1.1 billion), Adi Godrej and the Hinduja brothers ($ 1 billion each) among Indians.
