Shoaib Akthar's action suspect?

If Pakistan thrives on crisis, then it would appear that someone is ensuring that the team never lacks for thrive-fodder.

Thus, pace ace Waqar Younis had hardly limped off the practise field with a strained shoulder, when the news hit that Shoaib Akthar has been reported to the International Cricket Council for throwing.

Umpires are reported to have complained to the ICC during the recent Pakistan tour of India and Sharjah.

Though there is no rule by which the ICC can bar a bowler whose action is under scrutiny, teams normally withdraw a bowler. Steps are then taken to correct his bowling action under the supervision of an ICC-nominated expert, followed by a review of his action by the ICC bowling committee.

At this point, however, it is not known whether the ICC has officially informed the Pakistan Cricket Board about the complaint. And no action need be taken before the complaint is officially made.
