August 25, 2003 09:48 IST

A security guard may have had a hand in the suicide bombing at the United Nations office in Baghdad in which 23 people, including its chief Sergio Vieira de Mello, were killed, the United States-run Iraqi Television reported on Sunday.

The guard, an Iraqi, may have tipped off the attackers about the layout of the building and the location of de Mello's office, it said.
