Cuban airliner hijacked

April 01, 2003 12:46 IST

A man with two grenades has hijacked a Cuban airliner with 46 passengers and crew on board, BBC quoted Cuban officials as saying on Tuesday.

He wants to be flown to Miami, but the plane had to land because of shortage of fuel, it said.

The Cuban authorities are negotiating with him.

The Soviet-made Antonov-24 airliner was flying to Havana from Nueva Gerona.
