India-born Ayesha F Nariman to
contest congressional poll

Ayesha F Nariman, a Mumbai-born financial advisor, is contesting for the New York seat in the House of Representatives, becoming the second person of Indian origin to be in the fray for the congressional polls.

Ayesha, a Democrat, will contest from the newly configured 26th congressional district in New York in the mid-term polls this year. The seat is currently held by a Republican.

This is the second time in the history of the United States that a person of Indian origin is contesting the congressional elections after Dilip Singh Saund in the sixties.

A Zoroastrian by birth, Ayesha has obtained a MBA from the University of Buffalo with dual majors in financial institutions and markets, and health care systems.

She lives in Willaimsville and has been a US resident for the last 28 years.
