Film suggests Osama bin Laden is alive

In what could be the first hard evidence of Osama bin Laden surviving US-led attacks in Afghanistan, the world's most wanted fugitive is seen in a video singling out Britain as a terrorist target.

The 40-minute video includes an interview with the Al Qaeda leader, recorded after the start of the US-led offensive in Afghanistan.

Another short section of the encrypted video containing previously unseen footage of the fugitive shows him speaking about martyrdom against the backdrop of a fertile plain and hills, The Sunday Times newspaper reported.

"If true, it [the video] would provide the first evidence that bin Laden survived the recent allied attacks on the Tora Bora mountain complex in Afghanistan," the report said.

Last Friday, a London-based Arabic newspaper claimed that Taliban leader Mullah Omar, whose whereabouts are unknown, had confirmed in an interview that bin Laden was still alive.
