Advance party of peacekeeping force arrives in Afghanistan

An advance party from the multinational peacekeeping force, which is to help the interim administration in Afghanistan, made its way into Kabul on Wednesday morning, a British embassy source said.

It comprises between 20 and 30 officers, the source said.

The advance party will prepare the ground for the arrival of a 4,500-strong International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) comprising personnel from 17 countries to be headed by a British officer.
