Osama bin Laden missing from Afghanistan: Taleban

Taleban spokesman Abul Hai Mutmaen told a news agency on Sunday that Osama bin Laden has gone missing.

The Saudi born bin Laden is described by the United States as the prime suspect responsible for September 11 terror attacks.

Taleban spiritual leader Mullah Omar had approved a decision last week by Afghanistan's Shoora council recommending bin Laden be persuaded to leave the country voluntarily.

"We have still not been able to deliver the clerics' message to him because we could not find him," Mutmaen was quoted as saying by the news agency.
